YouTube - Tommy Wonder - Ring Watch and Wallet
Rare! Rare! Just acquired from a private collector in mint condition. Tommy Wonder was a legend. He fooled us all with his radical approach to the oldest classic in magic which most of us thought had been explored to the limit. That, of course, is the Cups & Balls. His routine is a masterpiece of misdirection. Later he re-worked such classics as the Zombie, Vanishing Bird Cage, and Nest of Boxes and fooled us all even more and very badly. In recent years, one of the most memorable routines in Tommy Wonder's performances was what seems to now be entitled, "RWW," or The Ring, Watch and Wallet. Needless to say, it is a KILLER trick and has a built-in storyline that garners immediate attention. The magician tells of being robbed one time. A robber approached him in a dark street and told him to give him his beautiful ring, his high end watch and all his money. As he speaks, the magician pulls off his ring and displays it on the tip of his forefinger. He then removes his watch and dangles it in full view from his little finger of the same hand. Finally, he removes his wallet, flips it open and removes all the money from it (several bills,) tucking the wallet back into his waistband where it remains in full view. The bills are held in full view by the hand displaying the watch and ring. He tells of how strange this thief was because rather than be caught with the stolen goods, he would immediately mail his loot to himself! As he speaks he brings out an envelope and holds it wide open. He then puts the money into the envelope. He follows this by dropping the ring into the envelope and, finally, he puts the watch in the envelope. Now, in keeping with the story, he IMMEDIATELY tears the envelope to shreds and tosses the pieces into the air. The ring, watch and money have instantly disappeared. If you have not seen this done on the L&L DVDs or youtube, you are missing one of the most stunning vanishes in magic. You really have to see it to appreciate how stunning this is because it is instant, and I mean INSTANT! There is no monkeying around. One second the objects are put into the envelope, one at a time, and the next instant they are gone and both hands are wide open empty! The performer tells how he used magic to foil the thief and holds his hand up where it is seen the ring has reappeared back on his finger. He moves the hand forward hiking up his sleeve and his watch is back on his wrist! Finally, he opens the wallet with one hand and it is seen, once again, filled with currency as the money has returned. And he is left in an applause commanding position. Believe me, it will come! Whatever you do, if you purchase this, please keep the work to yourself; don't take it to the next Show & Tell Night at the Magic Club. On the plus side for those who love exclusivity, few will ever do it simply because they won't find the apparatus. As was typical of so many of Tommy Wonder's mechanical effects, it was exquisitely engineered and designed and only a very skilled craftsman could ever really make this prop correctly. But with each set being virtually hand made and fitted, it is a FABULOUS outfit, perfectly engineered and exquisitely built with absolutely no expense spared. This comes in a beautiful cushioned display box in case you're a collector and don't really plan to perform it. But, you absolutely should. This is complete with the unbelievable mechanical watch, duplicate watch, the all-leather gimmicked Wallet, the special harness, a supply of envelopes, template and device for making more, money gaff made up with real currency, all in pristine mint condition. Also included is the L&L Tommy Wonder DVD Vol.1 in which Tommy performs this classic effect. Please note that this was custom manufactured and commissioned by a private collector so all welds have been laser welded, includes a fully adjustable harness and improved reel. Also includes the watches/gimmick and a 100% authentic 100% aniline dyed (finest dying method for leathers) black lambskin wallet with the notch (as specified by Tommy Wonder in his books). This was custom manufactured for a private collector, so this is extremely rare! In mint condition.

There is a simpler set up by a magician called Rich Marotta, who does the same effect, and trick without the complicated set up that Tommy Did, as the props involved are complicated
Look up a trick called Mugged by Rich Marotta, but its very hard to find now, though you can see it performed, and the secret on how to do it on his Comedy Magic Dvd Volume 1

I find this version very interesting. I've always loved Tommy Wonder's Ring, Watch and Wallet. Thanks for posting about Mugged Scott. You're right though it's hard to find it for sale. It's unavailable everywhere. I do know though that the skii mask is change bag that you can buy separately as I've seen it before. Then just get yourself two identical watches, one or two rings and a himber wallet and you have your own Mugged routine.

yes thats right, and i suppose anyone could knit up the mask, or add a pocket into a ski mask balaclava
BTW :- do not buy the one advertised at the whenyouwish for magic sute, as they ripped me off, and they even still advertise it now that its in stock, and you will definately not get a refund Last edited by Scott; 02-08-2010 at 09:41 PM. |
